My Professional Life

I received my BA from the University of Winnipeg in 2001 with a major in History and a minor in Math. At the same time I also received my BEd with a specialization in Middle Years teaching.

I completed my MEd in Elementary Education with a specialization in Teacher-Librarianship in 2011. I am interested in many aspects of education in the 21st century, but specifically: inquiry based learning and creative approaches to planning performance based assessment projects through inquiry, technology integration and web 2.0 use in schools in conjunction with the school library, cross-curricular and cross-grade integration, teacher collaboration and co-teaching with learning specialists, and of course using the school library as a learning and teaching centre of the school. I am a full time teacher-librarian at a large junior high in Winnipeg, MB, Canada. I am also an amature blogger and wiki creator!

My Personal Life

I have been married for 7 years and together my husband, Kevin, and I have two wonderful daughters, Chloe is 5 and Abigail (Abby for short) is 3. We also have a fantastic dog Benny the Beagle (see my Voicethread on Benny below, feel free to comment). I am the oldest in my family and have one sister Terri and one brother Jeff.

I love to read mostly fantasy, dystopian, mystery, crime and some sci fi. I just finished reading Micheal Grant's Gone series (Gone, Hunger, Lies, Plague) and Kelly Armstrong's Darkest Powers series (The Summoning, The Awakening, The Reckoning). My favourite young adult novels are the Hunger Games trilogy bt Suzanne Collins.
